Knock, knock.

Who’s there?

Lena.

Lena who?

Lena little closer and I’ll tell you!

What I want to tell you is that The Mental Health Association is holding its annual “Funny Bone” comedy show FUNdraiser on Friday April 26th, 7:30PM at The Candlelight Theater in Wilmington, DE.  This year’s show will feature Belynda Cleare, Master of Ceremonies, and comics Madinah Wilson-Anton and Jess Carpenter.  In addition to supporting our agency’s mission to strengthen knowledge, resources, and support around mental health and advocacy, you will also benefit by having a great time, lots of good laughs, camaraderie, and complimentary refreshments during the show.

Laughing out loud at comedy is healthy for you! Numerous studies suggest that laughter is a natural mental health remedy and the ultimate stress relief medicine. Laughing automatically triggers positive physical and mental changes that help to relax your mind.  A good laugh improves your intake of oxygen-rich air which helps stimulates organs such as the heart, lungs, and muscles. Your brain also releases hormones that cause a feeling of pleasure and a relaxed mind.  Your laughter will activate your body’s stress response, producing a calming sensation, reducing tension and stress.  Laughter can lift your spirits by reducing anxiety and depression, making you feel happier.

We will also be selling and drawing the lucky raffle winner for a week’s stay at a beautiful beach house in Lewes, DE.  For more information on how to purchase a ticket, please visit our website at www.mhainde.org.

Now that you can see how much this show can benefit your mental health, I am hoping to laugh with and see you on April 26th at Candlelight Theater!  Here is the link to register/donate to our show:
