Peer Training: Peer Specialist Career Information Session

Please join us at a Peer Support Career information session (formally known as Peer 101), where Peer Educators at the Mental Health Association in Delaware will take you through the roles and responsibilities peers face, requirements needed for employment, training opportunities, our yearly Peer Internship program and other relevant opportunities.

Description: MHA is offering a free QPR Suicide Prevention Training that will be held virtually on Zoom. The QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. QPR is an hour-long suicide prevention training that teaches the warning signs of suicide and how to approach/help someone who may be having thoughts of suicide.
*Note: CEUs are not offered for this training. However, you will receive a certificate of attendance.

Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Training- March

Date: Monday, March 6th to Thursday, March 30th at 10:00am – 12:30pm
Location: Zoom
Description: This is a 4-week course which will begin on Monday, March 6th, and will end on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023. Students can expect to dedicate 10 – 16 hours per week to completing assignments. You must participate in the live sessions and complete all assignments to receive your Certificate for 50 Training hours. Successful completion of this course will provide you with all of the training hours needed to apply for the Peer Recovery Specialist Certification in Delaware.
*Note: It is only open to those obtaining their peer recovery specialist certification. There is an application process and prerequisites in order to enroll. More information can be found on the registration page.

Peer Training: Privacy & Security Rules Peers Need to Know

Date: Tuesday, March 21st at 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Description: As Peers, we are privy to sensitive information about the people we serve. In order to preserve their trust and help them avoid stigma, it is critical that we keep their private information confidential. It is also the law. Please join MHA Peer Services as we take a look at the privacy and security rules that apply to Peers, including HIPAA and 42 CFR § 2, best practices, and how to minimize damages in the event of a breach.
*Note: The training is open to anyone. However, if there is max capacity, priority will be given to those working as peers.

ASIST 

Date: Thursday, March 23rd to Friday, March 24th at 8:30am – 4:00pm (both days)
Location: In-Person (Wilmington, DE)
Description: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a free, two-day training offered in-person at the Community Service Building in Wilmington, DE. The training requires that participants attend both days in full duration. Registrations for these trainings are extremely limited and highly sought after. Please only sign up if you are absolutely certain that you are able to attend.

Description: MHA offers wellness groups virtually and in-person for those experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or a loss of a loved one to suicide. As well, we offer wellness groups for those in specific communities, such as the BIPOC community, LGBTQ+ community and disability community.
