The mission of UMatter2DE is to – “promote emotional health, educate Delaware college students who may be struggling with mental illnesses, and strengthen collaborative efforts to prevent suicide among college and university students in Delaware.”-

As stated in an article by the National Education Association, “the majority of college students meet the criteria for at least one mental health disorder” (Flannery, 2023). More specifically, 44% of students reported symptoms of depression, 37% mentioned experiencing anxiety, and 15% said they were considering suicide. There were also mentions of “emotional stress,” which students reported being attributed to previously stated mental health problems, as well as the overwhelm of balancing jobs, school, caregiving duties, and financial concerns. So, how can we support students who are experiencing these mental health and personal struggles?

The Mental Health Association in Delaware is proud to present the 6th Annual Higher Education Suicide Prevention Conference! The theme of this year’s conference is “You Matter: How to Navigate Your Mental Health,” where we will be discussing topics such as anxiety, perfectionism, mental health stigma, healthy relationships, and more.
