Depression Quiz

How to know if you are depressed

Answer yes or no to the following 16 questions. If you answer yes to four or more of the following questions and you’ve been feeling this way for more than two weeks, you may have major depression. Please call, 1-800-273-TALK or find a mental health professional to talk to.

  1. I often feel anxious or sad
  2. I feel guilty and/or worthless
  3. I am irritable and get angry for no reason
  4. I am much more or less hungry than usual
  5. I no longer enjoy doing things that used to make me happy
  6. I don’t have the energy to do normal daily activities
  7. I sleep too much or too little
  8. I find it hard to concentrate or make decisions
  9. I have violent outbursts and lose control easily
  10. People call me loud or obnoxious
  11. I have been skipping school or after school activities
  12. I have frequent head aches or body aches
  13. I drink alcohol or use drugs to make me feel better or “normal”
  14. I feel hopeless about my future
  15. I feel like my life/situation will never change or get better
  16. I think about death or hurting myself
