Edler Info Helps Seniors with Benefits

Are you a Medicare beneficiary or do you know someone who has Medicare? Do you or your loved one have Medicare and also limited income and resources? If so, you may qualify for financial assistance to help pay for your Medicare prescription drugs through the Social Security Administration.

People with Medicare can apply for extra help at any time. If you have applied in the past, you can reapply if your circumstances have changed. You can save up to $3,600 per year on the cost of your prescription drugs. The help will assist in paying for your monthly premiums, annual deductibles and prescription co-payments.

There is also financial assistance available for seniors and disabled adults with income less than $20,808. The Delaware Prescription Assistance Program will provide you or your loved one with a $3,000 prescription benefit per year.

The program will assist in paying for your monthly premiums, annual deductibles and prescription co-payments. You must first be approved or denied by the Social Security Administration. If you would like to find out if you qualify for the programs mentioned above, please contact the ELDERinfo office. It will be our pleasure to assist you. If you need help regarding a Medicare bill, comparing your prescription drug plans or reading your Medicare Summary Notice, ELDERinfo is here to help you.

ELDERinfo is Delaware's State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). It is a public service of the Insurance Commissioner's Office and is funded in part by a grant from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). ELDERinfo helps people with Medicare in Delaware deal with the complex and often confusing health insurance system.

ELDERinfo provides counseling and assistance on questions and problems related to Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, long-term care and other types of health insurance.

Counselors with ELDERinfo are volunteers who have completed extensive training on health insurance. Counselors are available throughout the state of Delaware to provide one-to-one assistance in an objective and confidential manner. There is no charge for this service.

We have identified that many people are eligible for the extra help, but are currently not receiving the benefits. If you know someone who may qualify, please share this important information with them.

Note: The staff of ELDERinfo can be reached, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. toll free at (800) 336-9500 or (302) 674-7364.
